Avery: Year-at-a-Glance

Wow. First of all, I can't even believe that I just hosted Avery's first birthday party. Where the heck did that year go?! We used the monthly pictures as decor during her party; and it was so fun to see them all next to each other to see how she had changed throughout the year.

Wow. My amazing little sweetheart grew up. And she's just going to keep growing because I can't do anything to stop it.

Anyway, if any of you want the details on doing pictures like these.. check out this post from Young House Love. I got the brilliant idea from them, although I used the same (6 month size) onesie for all of the pictures - plain white; it sort of stretched out as she wore it. I added the typography with Photoshop after taking the photo. Some of the months look more real than others. The hardest part though (besides making sure I purchased the fabric on time)... was keeping that wiggly girl in front of the fabric. Whew! I'm sort of glad the project is over!

Now, for the updates of what she is up to at 12 months:
  • can balance on her feet without holding on to anything.
  • can take a few steps but chooses not to most of the time.
  • loves her Daddy. As soon as she hears the back door open she crawls as fast as she can over to home and will cry if he doesn't pick her up right away.
  • her tummy hasn't responded well to whole milk, but she does great with cheese and yogurt.
  • loves Harvey, even sometimes when he's picking on her.
  • likes to "wrestle" with the boys.
  • doesn't want baby food or snacks when everyone else has "real food."
  • loves to take things out of any container - my purse, toy boxes, the dishwasher, bathroom drawers, etc.
  • tries to eat with her own spoon.
  • has figured out how to push buttons: on the remote, on her toys, and even Mom and Dad's!
  • is ticklish. She has the best belly laugh ever.
  • has 6 teeth, and another one is on it's way.
  • "dances" when she hears music or someone singing. Often, she will join in singing as well!
  • pays peek-a-boo by putting her hands over her eyes.
  • likes to turn the lights on and off.
  • can smack her lips to give a kiss.
  • loves toys that make noise - especially the Fridge Farm and her new remote control.
  • sips out of a sippy cup with her head tipped way back.
  • is starting to understand what doesn't go in her mouth. She will pick something up and ask me if it's okay to taste, "Eh?"
  • likes turning the pages to her bedtime stories.
