Slacking Off... and Kid Friendly Utensils

Holy smokes. I haven't blogged in almost a month. And I was already behind.

Sorry peeps... but it's been a little crazy around here. We went on a family vacation to San Diego, and I had all these grand plans of pre-blogging a ton of stuff and scheduling it to show up while I was gone, and that went out the window because I had procrastinated a billion things for our trip. (Story of my life.)

Then after driving all day and getting home after 11:00pm the night before, we managed to (barely) pull off a 4th of July barbeque with Justin's family at our house.

Now I'm prepping for girls camp and I haven't even edited half of our vacation photos yet. Oh, don't you wait... I'll have a billion posts popping up soon enough.

On another side note.. I made some tweaks to the 'Ol blog. I've had lots of people tell me it loads uber slow. Did it improve at all? Or is it still slower than molasses?

But, I'm not empty handed. Here's a random little post I had sort of done before my vacation that has absolutely nothing to do with anything in this post. Well, except there are about 11 of these in my sink along with half of my kitchen waiting to be washed. Yet another thing on my To-Do list right now. ;)

When Justin and I got married, we received the most awesome set of silverware. They are nice and thick (no bending of the spoons when you sneak a scoop of ice cream) and the spoons aren't dinky. No really, they are almost like spoon spoons! We love them. Apparently, we are spoon snobs around these parts.

Everything was hunky dory until we had kids. When I gave Harvey a spoon for the first time to try and eat his own applesauce cup... he scooped like half of the container out and most of it ended up on his face and/or shirt. I solved that problem with this plastic set of silverware from Ikea... but it's only been three years, and now all of the pieces are getting worn and chipped. They were starting to bug me (am I weird?) so I moved that set to Harvey's play food box, and set out to find something that would stand up to extended wear and tear.

I finally found what I was looking for at World Market (LOVE that store bytheway)...

Yup. Just some cocktail spoons. They are about 5 inches long and just perfect for little hands. Plus they are nice and thick and made of stainless steel so they'll last us as long as we need them. Hey, who knows... maybe when the kids are all grown up I'll actually use them for their intended purpose!

  1. Welcome back from vacation. I fell on your blog while you were away. I look forward to getting to know you!

And no, you are not alone on the chipping. Drives me nuts too!
