The Kite

As per my 101 Things in 1001 Days list, I wanted to fly a kite. It's really sad to admit, but the last time I "flew" a kite was in 6th grade, and it was a kite I made myself out of straws and tissue paper. Lets just say it didn't fly for very long.

I found a kite I knew Harvey would like...

... but after I got everything out of the package and my hubby was looking over the goods he asked where the extra string was. And it was then apparent to him that I was a novice in the art of kite-flying. I'm so lucky to have this guy who is an expert in so many things.

But even without the extra-long string, Harvey loved flying his new kite.
(How do you like that cowlick? I can't ever keep that piece of hair down!)

We all had fun trying to keep the kite up. Then the wind would stop momentarily and it would start to come down again. (I guess that's where the long string would have come in handy.)

And then Harvey started exploring. He ran up to me with so much excitement to show me what he had found. I was pretty much observing the whole situation through the viewfinder in my camera.

Can you tell what that is?

After this picture, I figured it out. And I freaked.

Yup. My crazy kid found a dead mouse. And we proceeded to run to the car - myself holding his two hands away from anything and everything - raced home and scrubbed those hands until they were red (okay, reddish-pink). What am I going to do with that kid?
