This year Christmas was a little different because it fell on Sunday. I'll be honest, I didn't want to go to church. I just wanted to stay home and spend the day in my sweats snuggled up with our little family.
But people in our ward know I play the piano. And almost all the other pianists were leaving town for the holidays. I was asked to accompany a couple gals while they sang The First Noel in Sacrament meeting, so I said I'd do it. Our decision was made. We were going to church on Christmas morning.
Luckily Harvey was still young enough not to know about Santa. We decided to sleep in, get the family ready for church in the morning, and do Christmas when we came home. It all worked out okay, except that Avery started crying right as we went up to perform, and Justin missed the entire thing. I messed up on the piano.. but they sang so beautifully hopefully no one noticed. ;)
After we got home... I was dying to see everyone open their gifts. We invited my mom over and got to work. Only... we videotaped the whole morning and my camera collected dust. Oops. All of us were super spoiled this year. Justin got lots of new stuff (clothes and travel items) for the new job, and a new fly rod with a traveling case. My two favorite items were a Kindle Fire and a air popcorn popper. Harvey was in heaven opening add-ons to his train set, more tools for his toolbox, and art supplies. He also got some much needed shoes and underwear (more on that later!) Most of all, he was thrilled with this:
He had to go for a ride with Daddy around the block right away. My mom and I got the turkey in the oven, and after Justin's parents came over, and Avery was finally awake she got to open her gifts. She got some homemade blankies (I'll show those in another post), and some adorable outfits.
It was a nice relaxing day with good food and good company.

That bike looks awesome! Does Harvey love it? We need to get together and let Afton and Harvey ride around!
