Justin found out on Thursday at work that he had to head out to Mexico over the weekend to update some control panels at a huge mine down there.
It totally stinks that out of all the weekends, it had to be this one. We have something planned every day... plus it's Pioneer Day! Justin was persuaded with money signs; when you're getting paid double time plus free room and board, food, and an airplane ticket, it's hard to say no. Little did he know...
... that the mine had turned the power back on, and would NOT turn it off again until Monday. What was going to be a "short", 4 day weekend trip has now turned into a 8 day adventure - for both Justin and myself!
Justin has been able to do some work - in preparation for when they actually turn the live wires off. I haven't even really been able to talk to him! The phones won't call out of Mexico, so I have to call a special number and guess when he is going to have the phone with him. So frustrating. Last night, I thought I was calling my hubby's hotel room, and instead I ended up talking to the weirdest guy we've ever met (remember Ron from this post?) at midnight.
I'm going on 3 days now, and can I just say I'm grateful we had so many things planned for the week. I'm glad to get out of the house, and I'm sure Harvey is glad to see other faces besides my own.
And, I'll be more grateful when I see the check with the compensation for this separation.
Yuck. I simply loath when Darrin is out of town. Hopefully the week flies by!
ReplyDeleteBe thankful that there isn't a volcano making it so he can't get home. Also, at least Mexico is close to the same time zone as UT. I do understand though, if you want to hang out while he's gone, let us know! We'll be there!
