Kenna's Baptism

Last Saturday we went to my niece's baptism and it was so exciting to see her become a new member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The first part of the meeting was combined with 3 other children that were getting baptized the same day. There were the usual talks about baptism and the holy ghost, then they dismissed each ward separately and the rest of us stayed to sing hymns in the chapel. It was slightly humorous - the man conducting got up to rattle off page numbers of the hymns we were singing next and he sounded like an auctioneer: "301, 303, 304, 307, 273, ..." Kenna's ward was the last to be dismissed. Had I known that it was going to last almost as long as Sacrament meeting, I would have brought the sacrament "activity" bag for Harvey. Needless to say, he didn't like waiting that long to see his cousin get baptized.

She was a little nervous, but after her dad brought her back up out of the water she said, "That was it?" and had a big smile on her face. It was so sweet.

We headed over to her house for a potluck after the baptism... and the day wouldn't be complete without our usual act of tossing the guest of honor!
