Heard of Bella and Edward?

As some of you know, I boycotted the Harry Potter series pretty successfully until December. My niece convinced me to read them (which btw, I'm glad I waited so I could read them straight through). I couldn't believe how much I got sucked in. I finished all 7 books in a 16 day period. It was pretty intense. And I thought this was unusual...

Then, last Saturday I picked up another series people have been suggesting: "The Vampire Books."

I read the first one, Twilight, in 8 hours. I looked at the clock and it was 10:00pm, and I didn't have book two, so I calculated my options. Go harass someone at Barns and Noble to open the store just for me to buy a copy, or wait until Monday when they would actually be open. I called the friend I borrowed the book from and she suggested Walmart. I drove to 2 different stores and to my dismay they were both out of stock. AGH! I called or texted half the people in my cell and finally one friend said they had a copy and would bring it at 3:00 Sunday. *sigh* I just had to wait 16 hours.

After a restless night of sleep, the longest morning of church EVER, and pacing my living room for another half hour my friend delivered the goods. I finished New Moon in about 10 hours - and being prepared for the addiction, I made sure I already had Eclipse to attack when I was done. (I finished this one Tuesday afternoon). Since then I have consumed everything on Stephenie Meyer's website - including the first chapter of Midnight Sun (Twilight from Edward's point of view), and restarted Twilight.

I have to say... I should have waited until book 4 was published. I can't even stand it. I am dreaming about Edward, Bella and Jacob... and Justin thinks I'm a nut. I told him I want my own copies of the books for my birthday - but early (my birthday is in September).

So, the point of this post - is to ask any of you if you can suggest another series or book that is good enough to divert my attention from these. I can't take it anymore!

And just for Anna.. here are pictures of the actors that will be playing Bella and Edward in the upcoming Twilight movie so this post isn't "boring."

  1. yea! pictures! I promise even random pictures make a post more entertaining. So i have not started "The Vampire Books" but under your suggestion I'm waiting til book 4 comes out. I've heard the series of books "The Uglies" "The Pretties" and a couple others are pretty addictive. Good luck. :)

  2. Yep, the Uglies series is great. There are 4 book, Uglies, Pretties, Specials, and Extras. And when you are done with that, I am re-reading a great series that starts with "A Great and Terrible Beauty", "Rebel Angels", and the third, "A Sweet Far thing" just came out.

  3. I'm going to second that one with Anna. The "Uglies" series of Scott Westerfeld is a good one. It consists of "Uglies," Pretties," and "Specials." I don't THINK there's a fourth yet, but I'll let you know.
